More from Father Lawrence

The March 17 edition of the Charleston Post and Courier includes an interview with the Very Reverend Mark Lawrence. The article, "Ex-candidate for bishop asks members to choose," begins:

A day after his election as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina was declared null and void, the Very Rev. Mark Lawrence expressed disappointment in the state of his church and called on Episcopalians to pick one side or the other.

In one camp are those who emphasize the church's "broad tent" tradition. In the other are those who believe a broadening tent has caused the church to stray too far from a doctrine in which Scripture and tradition reign supreme.
The article concludes with this rather perplexing comment by Father Lawrence:

"It's time to call for those in the middle to wake up and decide which side you are on," he said.
